Not for one century the travellers has been crossing the territory of Belarus. It is for the advantageous position of the country that lies on the crossroads not only from West and Central Europe to Russia and the States in Asia but as well from Scandinavian countries to southern regions of Europe and Asia. The territory of Belarus stretches 650 kilometers (406 miles) from wets to east, 560 kilometers (350 miles) from north to south. Though it may seem not such a distance our country can suggest you trying something not usual for European countries — the wonder of unspoilt natural surroundings and, what is more, priceless heritage, original traditions and history imprinted in hundreds of small and big settlements. All these can be glazed at not deviating from your main routes.

Just make a little break for a rest going a bit out of your way and you will be fascinated by the charm of the country. Whatever trip you have, either by train or by car, your travelling will always bring you a delight and never disappoint you and reward you for long hard travel hours.

Crete Corridor II (Paris — Berlin — Warsaw — Brest — Minsk — Orsha — Moscow),

got its name after the second World European conference on transporting that took place on the island of Crete (Greece), and more widely referred as E30 lasting for 610 km on the territory of Belarus, plays the leading role. This motorway crosses Belarus from west to east and is both convenient and safe in terms of traffic. This “Belarusian equator” is used by 5.5 million travellers.

Keeping strictly to you route you may happen to miss the magic of mighty belarusian woods and numerous blue rivers and lakes with as pure as a tear water, delightful towns of belarusian provinces which are of an hour’s drive from the main roads. Just pop into these places and they will reveal the hidden amusing sights worth seeing.

Choosing it your way pop into the national park “Braslavkiye ozyora” (Braslav Lakes) to find yourself in the heavens among the great many lakes. The historical and architectural monuments in Vitebsk and Mogilyov, ones connected with the activity of Belarusian woman–enlightener Holy Efrosinia of Polotsk, the palace in Gomel will touch you to the heart.

The branch of Crete Corridor IX (Kiev — Minsk — Vilnus — Kaunas — Klaipeda), of 468 km length on the territory of Belarus, is also very important in terms of tourist transfer. These days see the reconstruction of the canals dating back to XVIII–XIX: Belarusian part of the Avgustovsky canal, Ogynsky canal of the Berezina water system, and the creation of the Dnieper–Visla–Oder. When this section is set into operation it will revive the historic transit waterways from Scandinavian and the Baltic Sea countries to Belarus. This revival of the famous routes of polish kings and the well–known way “from Varagian to Greek” is sure to be. The river transport that includes motor boats for voyages and fast passenger vessels is ready to serve for the matter.
